Cost Accountant

Description We are recruiting for a Cost Accountant in Akron, Ohio. This role involves maintaining cost standards for manufacturing equipment, developing overhead cost allocations, and assisting in project planning and budget planning. The successful applicant will also be integral in establishing costing calculations for key customers and interacting with customer's engineering and purchasing teams.Responsibilities: Develop and maintain cost standards for manufacturing equipment used in independent work cells and shared continuous manufacturing processes. Collaborate closely with Accounting and Engineering teams to ensure the accuracy and relevance of standard costing. Develop and maintain manufacturing overhead cost allocations for work cells and continuous manufacturing process cost standardization. Assist in creating costing models for use by program managers for repetitive process and product quoting. Develop processes to collect necessary costing data used for cost standards and cost calculations. Redesign our internal cost file records system and establish a standardized process to record, complete, and regularly review the system. Participate as an integral member of our Advance Product Quality Planning teams. Collaborate with the advance engineering team on new project planning, project costing, and identification of process and product cost drivers. Ensure that accounting software is updated to actual BOM’s used in manufacturing, and costs are up to current standards. Assist management in capacity planning, budget planning, and profitability planning. Establish specific costing calculations for key customers and interact with customer’s engineering and purchasing teams. Develop and maintain systems to simulate, analyze, and optimize products and process costs. Ensure that accounting software is equipped and adequate to implement process costing modeling or offer alternatives. Assist accounting with account reconciliations as required. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Strong understanding of Accounting Functions and Cost Accounting Skills in Cost Analysis and Standard Cost Accounting Experience with IQMS software Proficiency in Budgeting and Forecasting Strong skills in Account Reconciliation Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines Knowledge of financial regulations and legislation.
