Work is typically available from May until approximately mid-September. Work is generally performed from 7:00 am-4:30 pm Monday- Thursday and 7:00 am- 11 am on Fridays. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and may change with or without notice. Conducts mosquito surveillance within the district, surveying known and new habitats for the presence of mosquito larvae
Operates and maintains traps to collect adult mosquitos
Performs lab duties, including identification, sorting, counting, and testing specimens
Assists in the application of larvicides, adulticides, and barrier sprays
Operates ATVs, trucks, and boats; utilizes backpack sprayer for limited access areas
Communicates with the public about services while working in the field
Utilizes handheld computer devices, laboratory equipment and instruments, personal protective equipment, and paper maps to complete work
Creates and maintains thorough reports and documentation on work duties, as required
Understands and adheres to all safety protocols
Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
Typical Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent;ANDone (1) year of outdoor work experience;ORan equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Must possess a valid North Dakota Drivers License, or equivalent
Successful applicants must pass a background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
Upon hire, applicant must pass the North Dakota Public Health Pesticide Applicators exam
Specific technical training and certification may be required. Employees will be provided with guidance on obtaining such certifications.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
Experience working in a lab setting is desired, but not required

Exposure to pressurized chemicals and chemical vapors
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
