Basin Electric Power Cooperative is seeking an Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Technician I or II - Power Plant.Position Purpose:

This position is responsible to execute maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively. The incumbent is responsible to provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all plant instrumentation, controls, computer equipment, electrical, and electronic apparatuses of any design voltage on the plant site.Essential Functions:

Maintain the electrical and instrumentation hardware and software, preventive maintenance and repair, and calibration of all plant electrical and instrumentation equipment to ensure smooth generation system operation.

Systems maintained and calibrated include, but are not limited to, continuous emission controls, combustion controls, electrical generation controls, burner controls, water treatment plant controls, electrical relays, analyzers, process scales, networks, computers, servers, and results laboratory instrumentation.

Direct activities of other support or contract personnel and other delegated functions in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.

Troubleshoot plant electrical and instrumentation and control systems to return to service in a timely manner.

Maintain accurate records and reports.

Proactively support Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and plant policies and procedures pertaining to safety.

Develop preventative maintenance procedures.

Maintain all Ammonia training in reference to Homeland Security and the Risk Management Plan

Perform LOTO clearance verifications when needed.

Perform and support all planned outages with contractors.

Ensure that tools and equipment are in sound working condition, and perform any other duties, as assigned.

Regularly works on energized circuits of up to 4160 volts alternating current (AC) and/or 600 direct current (DC), and near circuits of 345 kilo-volt (KV) AC and less.

Perform ground maintenance.

Qualifications:

Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Technician II:

Two-year electrical, electronic or instrumentation and control program; and two years of related experience as an Electrician or Instrumentation Technician of which one year is an operating industrial or power plant; or

Completion of an electrical or instrument apprenticeship and two years related electrical experience of which one year is an operating industrial or power plant.

Electrical/Instrumentation and Control Technician I:

Two-year electrical, electronic or instrumentation and control program; and three years of related experience as an Electrician or Instrumentation Technician of which two years were at an operating industrial or power plant; or

Completion of an electrical or instrument apprenticeship and three years related electrical experience of which two years were at an operating industrial or power plant.

Other Requirements:A high degree of proficiency in both electrical and instrumentation.Experience working on low-voltage and medium-voltage equipment.Proficient in using common software including MD Office and productivity software.Experience in working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) preferred.A valid driver's license.Resume required.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job.
