General Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Know and comply with the company’s safety rules, policies and OSHA regulations including injury/incident/near miss reporting procedures. Bring problems to attention of Foreman, Supervisor, Superintendent, Safety Director, or Human Resource Manager.
2. Shovel asphalt from tractor bucket onto surface where paving is to occur.
3. Rake asphalt after paver.
4. Clean up at asphalt plant including shoveling asphalt from under bins and other general maintenance.
5. Maintain a clean working area which includes cleaning pavement with brooms, power sweepers and pressure washers and other housekeeping.
6. If certified, act as a flagger as required by supervisor.
7. Operate hand and power tools as needed.
8. Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
9. Operate machines to spread, smooth, level, and compact asphalt on road beds or other surfaces (skilled laborer-Operator).
10. Operate oil distributors, loaders, chip spreaders, dump trucks, paver machine, screws, roller, or tamper to ensure pave meets specifications (skilled laborer-Operator).
11. Operate tamping and rolling machines to compact earth fills and finished road materials according to grade specifications (skilled laborer-Operator).
12. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
