For more information about KFI Engineers and our culture, please visitwww.kfi-eng.com.POSITION OVERVIEW and RESPONSIBILITIESThe Electrical Engineer plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Commercial, this individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly understood and acted upon. This candidate will have necessary education to be able to get their Professional Engineer (PE) license in the future. This position will enable them to gain the necessary experience and knowledge to take the PE exam and become a licensed PE. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment.Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Assists with the design of one or more of the following: power distribution systems (primary requirement), size motor feeders and starters.

Working knowledge of 3-phase and single phase power systems.

Supports the design of building power and lighting systems. Includes the design of special systems, such as ground fault, lightning protection, emergency generator, UPS, etc.

Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of Electrical Engineering Principles.

Possesses a basic understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.

Build up knowledge of Codes (e.g. NEC, NFPA, IBC, Life Safety Code, etc.).

Assists with performing voltage drop and short-circuit calculations. Perform arc fault analysis.

Coordinates work with other departments and project team members as well as contractors.

Interest in or experience with supporting or primary role with lighting design, or technology systems design (telecom, fire alarm, electronic security, audio/video).

QUALIFICATIONSRequired:

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.

Willingness to obtain a Professional Engineering registration in North Dakota.

Strong attention to detail.

Adaptable and agile, responsive to quick changes in direction.

Ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers and other stakeholders.

Project experience and/or a working knowledge of Electrical design for building projects

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to enable effective interaction with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers.

Pragmatic and applied approach, while at the same time bringing a creative examination of customer needs and solutions.

Self-directed but thrive in an environment where consultation leads to superior outcomes.

Preferred:

AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drawing experience.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience following graduation.
