Cash-Wa Distributing is the largest family owned broad-line food distributor in the Midwest, serving 11 states. Our focus is on serving the customer with excellence, giving them the best service and value in the business. Our warehouse is a 24 hour operation, with the Warehouse Manager responsible for all warehouse shipping and receiving operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday, with 8-10 hour days. Must be able to be on-call for night/weekend emergencies.
Responsibilities:
Manage all in-bound/out-bound operations
Manage and develop all supervisory staff and Night Shipping Manager
Oversee all facilities/building and grounds functions; work with vendors and contractors on building improvements, repairs, preventive maintenance contracts, etc.
Must be well versed in EAP regulations
Hire for all warehouse and facilities positions with assistance from Night Shipping Manager; enforce compliance with company policies, procedures, and bargaining unit contractual agreements; coach, counsel, and discipline associates as necessary
Manage employee relations to resolve issues as they occur
Perform administrative duties to include monitoring productivity, approving payroll, and regular appraisal/evaluation of overall warehouse operations results
Prepare and recommend annual Warehouse budget; monitor actual expenses; manage operations within established budget goals.
Purchase warehouse material handling equipment/shipping supplies, allocate costs, authorize invoice payments
Oversee training procedures for new associates including safe work methods
Responsible for ensuring all OSHA safety/hazard protocols are properly implemented; oversee all company safety standards; work with Human Resources to implement Workforce Safety and Insurance SMP program
Lead British Retail Consortium Global Standards (BRC) audit on an annual basis (must be willing to obtain necessary certifications)
Oversee tracking/efficient use of space for product locations/movement/cube size; track financial impact of warehouse changes
Ensure sound working relationships within the department and with other departments through effective communication and follow-up on plans of action, priorities, and deadlines
Qualifications:
Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of warehouse distribution experience, at least three of which must be in a supervisory capacity
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong, adaptable computer skills; familiarity with warehouse management systems, Vo-Collect system, and strong Excel skills preferred
Ability to make decisions quickly to maintain work flow and adjust to pressures and demands
Essential Job Functions:
Frequent stand/walk while supervising warehouse associates and overseeing warehouse activities
Constant use of sight, speech and hearing abilities necessary to communicate with associates, vendors and work safely in warehouse
Frequent sitting to complete paperwork and perform administrative duties
Constant use of both hands/arms while reaching/handling/fingering/grasping/lifting/
moving product, performing paperwork/computer work/other office activities
Occasional lift/carry product up to 50 lbs. short distances
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with constant awareness of surroundings, workers, moving equipment, etc.
Hazards include noise, moving equipment, floor obstacles, blind corners, slippery surfaces, multi-temperature warehouse (-10 F. to 50 F.)
