Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates all types of motorized equipment and vehicles.
Performs various maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment within the maintenance shop.
Plows snow; scrapes ice off roads.
Hauls various materials.
Cuts grass along roadway shoulders.
Positions traffic control signs and devices; provides traffic control through work zones.
Performs roadmaintenance sealing cracks, filling potholes, etc.
Performs building maintenance and repair projects using various hand and power tools.
Performs related work as required.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2)years of related work experienceand/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of a valid State of North Dakota Class A commercial driver's license or willing to obtain.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of road construction, maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of state and federal laws governing road construction, maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of the road system and political boundaries of the County.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of building maintenance and repair.
Ability to read and understand oral and written work instructions.
Ability to read and interpret plans, technical manuals and related sources.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to operate various road construction equipment.
Ability to make minor repairs and perform basic maintenance to vehicles and equipment.
Working conditions/Physical and Mental Demands:
Physical environment consists of frequent field work. May be required to perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying materials, equipment and items weighing up to 60pounds. Exposure to extreme weather conditions. Exposure to moving vehicles and equipment. Potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous chemicals. Potential exposure to electrical shock. May be subject to a high noise level work environment.
