This position is full-time with the full benefits package of the Park District. Phone: 701-456-2074APPLICATION DEADLINE:March 15, 2024Job SummaryPark Operation Specialist will work with the supervisor on the daily maintenance of all athletic fields, sports complexes and associated grounds.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Participates in daily activities related to the maintenance/operations of all athletic fields, sports complexes, and associated grounds.

Assists in training and supervising seasonal maintenance staff.

Performs turf and landscape maintenance functions including refuse pickup, seeding, sodding, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, aerating, irrigation installation, and irrigation repairs.

Operates a variety of ground maintenance equipment such as: mowers, tractors, trucks, shop equipment, trimmers, and field groomers in a safe manner.

Maintains buildings and facilities in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. Performs preventive maintenance functions in accordance with ground maintenance standards.

Performs the construction and renovation of grounds, facilities, and equipment with coordinating supervisor.

Communicates effectively with proper subordinates and maintains positive working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public.

Represents Dickinson Parks and Recreation in a positive manner.

Attends regular department/committee meetings and performs related work as required.

May be required to work as an Ice Center Specialist during winter months.

Qualifications

One years of experience in maintenance or grounds work; or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Valid driver's license.

Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED; or ability to obtain certifications within 12 months of employment.

Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust fo us.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkClassified as a Full-Time Fully Benefited position. Standard days/hours of work are Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Special event, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
