This is a 1099 contractor role with flexible hours, perfect for a stay-at-home parent or anyone looking for flexible supplemental income.
About the Role:
The initial focus will be handling all insurance paneling paperwork, setting up systems, and managing essential business tasks. Tasks will be assigned weekly or as needed — it is extremely unlikely you will ever work every single day of the week, but you must be available any week day for at least one hour should an urgent task arise.
Initial Responsibilities (first 1–2 months):
Complete insurance credentialing applications for BCBS, Aetna, Medcost/Trillium, Healthy Blue, WellCare, AmeriHealth, and United Healthcare etc.
Set up an EIN and ensure all tax/business paperwork is in place.
Assist with CAQH, NC Tracks profile management and updates.
Prepare and submit all required documentation to insurance companies.
Create and maintain organized spreadsheets for tracking paneling status, billing, and client payment details.
degree: none required, just proof you have done very similar jobs in the past
Ongoing Responsibilities (as needed):
There may be other similar responsibilities not listed
Handle claim submissions for CPT code 90837.
Check insurance benefits and co-pay amounts for clients.
Create and send superbills when requested.
Follow up on unpaid claims.
Organize client forms and intake paperwork via PDF Filler (company will provide access).
General administrative support as assigned.
Requirements:
Proven experience in medical billing, insurance paneling, and administrative support (mental health/therapy setting preferred).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail (Strong, skilled use of excel, google sheets, pdf filler, all Microsoft office or ability to train yourself 100%)
Reliable internet connection and access to a computer and printer in home.
Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information.
Must be willing to sign a notarized nondisclosure agreement (company pays for notarization).
Must pass background check
Payment & Schedule:
Pay: $18/hour
Hours: 1–5 per week, flexible schedule. Monday-Friday
Most weeks will require less than 2-5 hours, and there may be weeks where there is no work to be done on your end, in the middle of the insurance paneling process. But once approved with all insurance companies, it is steady work.
If you are dependable, efficient, and take pride in your work, this role could be the perfect way to earn supplemental income while working from home flexibly.
