Visit www.thermofisher.comPOSITION SUMMARYThis position is responsible for ensuring all import and export activities are completed in compliance with applicable government rules and regulations. The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will support the Manager, Compliance, BPD, by helping to develop and maintain the import and export compliance program at the site level. This includes, adherence to applicable US and non-US laws and regulations pertaining to international trade as well as ensuring compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate policies.Responsibilities:

Develop, implement and maintain programs, policies, and procedures to ensure site-wide compliance with regulations and corporate policy

Responsible for the daily export transactional tasks

Collaborate with freight forwarders, US customs officers, customs brokers, internal and external customers on all matters pertaining to customs and import and export regulations

Coordinate complex export controlled shipments from multiple shipping points to global locations

Obtain export licenses from Department of Commerce as the need arises

Provide relevant product information to internal teams to support HTS classifications, Export Control Classification (ECCN) and country of origin information

Handle import/export recordkeeping process in compliance with guidelines set forth by regulations and Thermo Fisher policy

Implement processes for license determination and access to export controlled technology

Ensure that proposed transactions are appropriately screened for Denied Person and Entities, restricted end-uses, antiboycott language, diversion, etc.

Conducts internal audit and assessment of business activities for adherence to import/export procedures throughout the business lifecycle, including early-stage review of new products and classification/characterization of commodities through final delivery to customer

Monitors, measures, and reports Key Performance Indicators (KPI) on adherence to regulations and procedures

Evaluate new government requirements to ensure import and export compliance with changes and incorporation into day to day operations and standard operating procedures

Identifies and analyzes causes of international and domestic compliance issues and gaps and generate recommendations to management

Partner with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales, IT, and Engineering to develop and execute defined procedures

Provide training on various compliance topics to individuals and functional groups

Support group programs and projects that take advantage of Free Trade Agreements (including management of certificates of origin) and other duty-savings opportunities

Lead special projects as assigned

Minimum Requirements and Skills:

Bachelor's degree preferred with 3+ years of relevant experience in import and/or export roles

Solid knowledge of US Customs Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Government Agency Import/Export regulations (i.e. CBP, Census, EAR, OFAC, ITAR)

Ability to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision

Detail oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize and be adaptable

Proven communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills

Ability to interface expertly with all levels and functions of the organization

Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in order to implement GTC initiatives across cross-functional departments

Applies a sense of urgency to resolve problems and supports root-cause analysis

Highly self-motivated and self-directed

Ability to apply judgment and discretion
