Description of WorkNCDOT Office of Civil Rights (OCR) Division exists to promote and ensure that our customers and employees have equal access to and opportunity to participate in transportation programs without facing unlawful discrimination. OCR carries out this mission by enforcing Federal and State laws and regulations that prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age and, in certain circumstances, genetics, sex and religion, in programs and activities that receive Federal and/or State financial assistance. OCR also endeavors to remedy past and current discrimination of socially and economically disadvantaged individuals with the intended outcome of leveling the business playing field by fostering equal opportunity on DOT assisted contracts.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Establish and maintain positive interagency relationships with state agencies, college and university partners, and various stakeholders to gather and share information and best practices. This will include working closely with the Director at the Department of Transportation Office of Civil Rights

Demonstrated ability to Develop Executive Summaries

Knowledge of the research development, special projects, and policy recommendations

Experience in engaging in high-level facilitation and consulting in support of community engagement.

MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE:

Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Strong interpersonal/ human relations skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in various disciplines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsEligibility Requirements

Must possess bachelor’s degree from, or be currently enrolled in masters, or professional level program (e.g., Law School) at an accredited North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) earned between 2020 – 2023 Or be a current graduate student.

Must provide proof of College or University attendance/graduation by attaching a transcript (official or unofficial)
