Individual will be responsible for maintain daily workflow in the Health Information Management Department. This position is primarily responsible for imaging all records into the EMR system, indexing and analyzing all records to the highest level of quality possible. Individual will assist providers and clinicians in achieving timely, accurate and complete documentation practices. Individual is flexible, dependable and demonstrates the ability to adapt to change.
Essential Functions:
Responds to inquires of staff, vendors, and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction, discussing and resolving any issues and/or problems.Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, cultural diversity and contributes to the morale and teamwork of the staff through department operations and by personal performance.Preps, scans, indexes and analyzes records within 24 hours of discharge while assuring the highest level of quality possible and achieving scanning quality performance of at least 99%.Reconciles records received with appropriate discharge list.Monitors, tracks and maintains reporting process for medical record deficiencies and provider notices. Maintains statistics on physician delinquency status and reports accordingly to Department Leader.Maintains integrity of the Master Patient Index by reviewing for duplicate medical record numbers, completes medical record number merges as appropriate and upon request from Patient Access Department.Assists physicians and other providers in completing medical record deficiencies.Handles all requests and inquiries for patient health information whether received via mail, fax, phone or in-person.Follows all departmental and organizational policies and procedures.Prioritize release of information requests and serves as backup coverage for release of information desk as needed.Understand the relationship between coding and billing and the four day bill hold process.Monitors and evaluates all billing claim edits or review requests within 24 hours of receipt and escalates for resolution as appropriate.Evaluates and routes pending accounts for coding completion and works to resolve any outstanding issues with unbilled accounts.Reviews daily Health Information Management related interfaces for errors and corrects as needed.Prepares agendas and presentations, prepares minutes, conducts and reports statistical studies, performs and reports the results of audits and studies.Provides technical / operational training to staff and providers.Upholds the LifePoint Health Core Values of: Honesty, Integrity & Trustworthiness, Inclusion, Compassion, andLegal/Ethical Compliance in all facets of his/her work.Assists other departments as needed with other requests and special projects as needed.Minimum EducationAssociate's Degree Required (in related field)
Certification:RHIT preferredRequired SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Basic office skills including Microsoft Word Processing, Excel, Outlook Email and basic internet search capabilities.Minimum Work Experience1-3 years of Health Care Management Experience Required (preferably within the Health Information Management setting).Benefits - Wide range of benefits options!
