Job Summary
The Commercial Flooring Estimator/Project Manager will be responsible for preparing accurate takeoffs, estimates, and proposals for commercial flooring projects, and then managing those projects from award through completion. This role bridges preconstruction and operations, ensuring a smooth transition and successful execution of each job.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating:
Read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs using estimating software
Obtain vendor quotes and prepare cost estimates and competitive bids
Coordinate bid proposals with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
Present proposals to clients and answer technical questions as needed
Ability to calculate the correct quantity to complete a job based on manufacturers product availability specifications
Project Management:
Plan, schedule, and manage all phases of assigned flooring projects
Serve as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and suppliers
Order materials and schedule labor and subcontractors
Comprehensive understanding of accuracy in bidding and what will constitute a change order
Monitor project progress, timelines, and budget compliance
Conduct site visits to ensure quality and safety standards are met
Manage change orders, punch lists, and project close-out
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in commercial flooring estimating project management
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or like field helpful
Strong understanding of various flooring products (carpet, VCT, LVT, hardwood, ceramic, etc.)
Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software (e.g. ISqFt)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel and Word)
Knowledge of construction project lifecycle and processes
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong communication and negotiation abilities
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
