DESCRIPTION
Positions available in small business using goats to remove vegetation and brush.
Position includes tasks related to bringing goats to customer as well as animal care and pasture maintenance.
During summer months work can conditions can be hot and buggy. It can also be fun, especially if you like animals and being active during your workday. The goats are very tame and our customers are great. It is a lot of fun to see customers and whole neighborhoods enjoy the goats.
TYPICAL TASKS:
Animal loading and transport
Clearing brush and installing portable electric fence
Use of weed whacker, mower, brush cutter and other landscaping tools
Mulch spreading
Representing business to customers and the public
Animal care and feeding
Farm maintenance
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
1. MUST pay attention to detail. The work is not rocket science, but ensuring that the trailer is properly hooked up, the fence is properly installed and charged, and the goats are safe is ESSENTIAL to the job and the business.
2. MUST be proactive and enjoy working as part of a small team (usually with 1-3 other people). This means learning the tasks and jumping in to get things done, rather than waiting to be told to perform each task.
2. MUST be dependable. Our customers schedule weeks in advance and usually at least two people are needed on the job, so if someone does not show up, we have to cancel the job for that day.
3. MUST have some flexibility and be able to work weekends some of the time. We can schedule around specific days you need off or special events, but in general, the work happens on both weekdays and weekends and we need someone who has some flexibility.
4. MUST have car, driver's license and good driving history (no exceptions).
5. MUST have a phone (no exceptions).
6. MUST be able to lift 50 lbs.
7. MUST be able to tolerate working outside in the heat.
8. Experience driving a truck with a trailer and backing up a trailer is a big plus!
PLEASE NOTE:
Working around poison ivy is unavoidable in this job. We are very careful about washing tools and all surfaces that have come in contact with poison ivy and expect everyone to follow these precautions, but if you are allergic to the point of requiring hospitalization this may not be a good fit for you.
HOURS/PAY
3-5 days a week depending on availability. Generally 7-8 hours per day. $17 to start. Increases based on reliability and performance
