The objectives of the Treatment Plan/General anesthesia Coordinator’s role are to provide patient education and
participate more actively with the planning, treatment presentation, and follow-up for patient
care. They take a pro-active role in each day’s schedule and patient activities to ensure a
smooth flow occurs.
Their goals are to educate, stimulate, motivate, and promote patient participation in dental
care; which should result in increased case acceptance. The Treatment Plan/General anesthesia Coordinator ensures
that each patient has an appointment and a solid treatment plan in place. In addition, the
treatment coordinator will have a firm understanding of why a patient does not schedule
proposed treatment as well as their status of when they may. A systematic follow-up strategy
is used by the Treatment Plan/General Anesthesia Coordinator to make certain patients are not lost to the practice by
remaining unscheduled indefinitely.
Objectives:
To participate fully, and focus positive energy on activities that promotes the
practice health by fulfilling assigned duties.
To stimulate and promote patient participation.
To provide liaison services to new patients entering the practice, and enhance
case acceptance for all services.
To foster referrals and enhance new patient flow through daily activities and
specific programs.
Work with hospital and anesthesia providers to schedule/post cases based on individual entity requirements
Goals:
Insurance Verification/Understand Insurance Coverage/Presentation of Treatment plan providing insurance estimates
Insurance Filing/Billing/Follow-up
Conversion of proposed treatment to paid on schedule
Participate in a huddle each morning, with a review at the end of each day.
Posting EOBs, Managing distribution of insurance payments, reporting the balances for F/U, managing A/R Account
Maintain 100% time utilization in the doctor’s schedule (daily/weekly). Ensure that the
patients are scheduled according to the office guidelines.
Work to ensure no patient leaves the practice without a follow-up.
Attain 80% case acceptance of all cases presented, with follow-up on the
remainder when possible.
Grow the patient base by 80% of new patient flow through appropriate followup and patient rapport.
Retain existing patients and encourage participation of new patients
Follow protocols in place set by hospital and anesthesia providers/ refine processes when needed
Qualifications
1) Education: No formal education is required. However, applicable continuing education
courses pertaining to the industry are desired; six months to one year related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2) Experience: Minimum of two years dental assisting experience recommended.
3) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Registered Dental Assistant certification desired but not necessary.
Annual continuing educational courses will be required on an as-needed basis by the
employer.

5) Physical Requirements:
Required to sit most of the day. Some walking around the office as needed.
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is needed.
Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
6) Work Environment:
Must be able to physically and emotionally handle the stress associated with a busy
and sometimes hectic environment.
Workspace may be within close proximity of computers, printers, other technology.
7)Work Hours:
The hours may be adjusted at the discretion of the employer.
From time to time additional work hours will be required for continuing education and
special projects.
Overtime hours must be pre-approved by employer no later than mid-week and once it
is anticipated.
8) Compensation:
This is an hourly position.
