Now in our 14th year, Short Winter Soups makes high-integrity vegetarian soups for every season. Our small team churns out over 60 gallons of soup per week (year round), all made entirely by hand at our kitchen facility in Hillsborough.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a friendly, hardworking, reliable, motivated and detail-oriented person to join our team full-time. Help make and distribute our popular soups in central NC. Half your time will be spent working alongside other employees, and the other half will be spent working solo. This role is divided up in the following ways:
KITCHEN (50%) Mondays and Thursdays
Working alongside our small kitchen team, you'll see soups through from start to finish. This includes setting up workstations, washing, peeling, and chopping a variety and large volume of vegetables; cooking or baking off individual ingredients for soups; blending; packaging and labeling soups; dishes and clean-up. Full Disclosure: lots of dishes and cleaning shared between all employees.
MARKETS & DELIVERIES (35%) Tuesdays and Saturdays
You'll be responsible for making weekly deliveries in our company van and staffing two weekly, year-round farmers' markets. This includes pack out, set up, take-down for each market, and working independently throughout. Early mornings (6:30am) required on Saturdays for market pack-out.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT (15%) Flexible
You'll focus additional hours on supporting inventory and kitchen organization on any day(s) you choose.
This is a physically demanding position that requires being able to:
- Lift and move 50 pounds
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Repeat the same physical movements and repetitive tasks with precision
- Work outside all types of weather
YOU ARE:
> Organized and is a stickler for details in all aspects of work, including cleaning

IDEALLY, YOU HAVE:
> Experience with farming, food prep and dish washing, and/or selling at farmers’ markets
> A love of vegetarian food
