NPosition Type ManagementJOB SUMMARYThe Vice President & Managing Director, Gaylord Hotels serves as the key continent business leader for the Brand with accountability for Owner Relations, P&L and Operations for Gaylord Hotels and other properties managed for Ryman Hospitality Properties as assigned. This position leads by promoting Marriott International’s strategy and mission with the aim of creating the maximum value for the company’s stakeholders through operational excellence.This position will have reporting responsibility for all General Managers of Gaylord properties and will serve as the primary contact for Ryman Hospitality Properties.The position has accountability for the overall performance of Gaylord Hotels, delivery of system standards and execution of brand standards and programs.EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

The Vice President, Gaylord Hotels drives business performance and by doing the following:

Maintain and evolve Gaylord brand standards.

Execute and deploy resources against brand services and initiatives.

Build and maintain successful relationships with the owner.

Manage the balance scorecard for the Gaylord Hotels in the Americas

Ensure compliance of MI and Gaylord policies and standards

Ensure Gaylord Hotels operate effectively, and brand differentiation is maintained.

Ensure brand integrity in all aspects of MI business processes.

Leverage MI sales engines and initiate appropriate sales and revenue management activity.

Provide leadership, guidance, and support in the development and implementation of overall corporate and continent strategies and initiatives.

Lead his/her team in achieving performance measures and goals.

Exercise astute financial management of continental resources

Develop top talent.

Achieve annual goals and targets to ensure profitability and revenue growth.

Provide business expertise and strategic perspective to identify profitable opportunities, anticipate challenges, and create competitive breakthrough strategies.

Talent Management

Approve property total compensation strategies.

Accountability for selection and development of property GMs

Accountability for developing bench strength for GM level.

Accountability for initiating the LPA for property GMs and conducting midyear and year-end performance reviews with GMs as well as setting goals and expectations for direct reports and ensuring accountability for successful performance.

Sales and Revenue Management

Review sales goals and strategies in area to ensure alignment with the brand business strategy and proper pricing and positioning of the property in the market.

Develops effective revenue management strategies and sets aggressive goals that drive the brand’s financial performance.

Leverage continent sales engines as well as initiate independent and proactive sales activities when appropriate to generate demand.

Financial Management

Accountable for P&L performance of Gaylord Hotels

Partner with Regional Presidents to conduct property level financial critiques.

Partner with Regional Presidents to take responsibility for reviewing and approving property operating budgets and CapEx plans.

Develop strategies to improve properties’ financial performance.

Accountable for cost containment and leveraging efforts.

Collaborate with Revenue Management, Sales & Marketing, and Finance to effectively manage P&L

Direct capital expenditure funds towards priorities outlined in the brand business strategy and hotel positioning.

Leverage contracts negotiated with retailers, service vendors, and other contractors to benefit the properties, in accordance with SOPs.

Owner Relations

Establish and maintain relationship with owner.

Manage an effective balance between owner interests and MI interests.

Build owner loyalty through proactive communication, setting and managing expectations, problem solving, and delivering solid business results.

Maintain knowledge of loan agreements and management contract requirements.

Ensure compliance with contract, owner obligations, and reporting requirements.

First level escalation for owner issues that cannot/should not be resolved at the GM level. Resolves issues him/herself or escalates to COO, as appropriate.

Travel required.CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE

10+ years of progressive experience in hotel industry preferred and prior leadership roles or GM assignments with responsibility for multiple units.

Operations experience or GM assignments with responsibility for multiple units

Excellent food & beverage, event management, rooms operations, revenue management, human resources and quality assurance skills, including experience with strategic planning, budgeting, negotiating and interpreting contracts, SOPs, and project management.

Demonstrated ability to operate in a matrix organization and leverage centralized organizational resources.

Ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results in adverse conditions when faced with complexity and ambiguity.

Experience evaluating business trends and risks and successfully developing/implementing new business programs and strategies that enhance multi-unit business performance while mitigating business concerns.

Track record of creating positive and influential owner relationships

Bachelor’s degree in related area, or equivalent relevant experience
