The PRN pharmacist will have the option to support other system retail pharmacy sites (UNC Pharmacy at Panther Creek, UNC Pharmacy at Eastowne, Johnston Health Outpatient Pharmacy, and the Shared Services Center Pharmacy). We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and dynamic pharmacist to join the system retail pharmacies. The pharmacist will have exceptional communication, organizational, and team building skills in addition to having a thorough understanding of retail operations and workflow management, inventory management, , clinical skills, , and customer service This pharmacist will work closely with the Pharmacist Coordinator and management to address inefficiencies and barriers as they arise and help to resolve pharmacy-related concerns as they are reported by the team.This is a PRN position with expected 4 to 10 hours per week and will require working weekend rotations (currently every 6th weekend). Certified immunizer preferred.Responsibilities:
Receives prescriptions, interprets prescriptions, and reviews the patient's medication profile /history. Clarifies incomplete, inaccurate, or contraindicated prescriptions with the prescriber, nurse, or other health professional, as appropriate. Identifies and intervenes on problems related to the medication needs of the patient.
Utilizes and analyzes patient data to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations. Assesses the patient's medication therapy regimen and makes appropriate clinical interventions with the provider. Performs protocol-driven clinical services such as IV to oral dosing, stewardship activities, etc
Direct workflow, supervise pharmacy personnel and ensure completion of all necessary tasks for optimal functioning of the pharmacy.
Complies with the medication formulary, and therapeutic substitution and other programs designed to optimize drug therapy while minimizing cost as required.
Completes required documentation such as notations in the medical record, controlled substances documentation, cash register reconciliation, competency, etc. as required.
Counsels patients and appropriate family members regarding pharmaceutical care issues as requested or required.
Administer immunizations to patients.
Complete assigned administrative tasks and projects in a timely manner
9.Adheres to federal, state, local, and institutional policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
Identifies and participates in process improvement opportunities.
Precepts students, residents and participates in training new pharmacy staff as required.
