This includes protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe, and helping find cures for cancer.How will you make an impact?As procurement and category Specialist you will lead and continuously improve the assigned categories of spend and collaborate with a cross-functional team of sourcing, operations, technical, finance and other key colleagues to prioritize sourcing initiatives, develops sourcing strategies, negotiates contracts, supports spend migration from incumbent to preferred suppliers, and handle preferred supplier relationships.What will you do?Scale of Responsibilities

Work under the supervision of a Sourcing & Category Manager to complete global category initiatives and deliver key category performance indicators, including savings, supplier rationalization, low-cost region sourcing, risk management, spend under agreement, joint innovation, supplier performance, etc

Support the execution of global sourcing strategies focused on identifying and contracting with preferred suppliers that meet key business needs and category management goals

As a procurement and category specialist, you will work with sourcing and category managers to develop and ensure roll out of global category strategies and strategic sourcing projects for your assigned categories of spend.You will also lead / participate into regional strategic sourcing projects that are not related to your assigned category of spend but related to the region in which you are located. You will participate into global special projects related to standardization, innovation, digitalization and also be involved into supplier relationship management activities.Your responsibilities will include the establishment of a category management plan and multi-year global sourcing strategies for your assigned spend categories covering an annual spend of approximately USD 25M. To achieve this, you will be required to analyze past spend and supply base, participate into the establishment of a 3 years rolling global forecast plan for the assigned category, identify, qualify and roll out related strategic sourcing projects and provide category expertise support during project execution.You will also handle Strategic sourcing projects of total value ranging from USD 25M to USD 100M.The role will require you to establish strong internal partnership with key stakeholders at middle management levels, across various business divisions, functions, and geographies. But also, externally with your key suppliers.The role will include the following activities:

Work closely with the Global Capex forecasting team to help develop and maintain an up to date 3 years rolling forecast plan for your assigned categories of spend

Develop and maintain competencies on your assigned categories of spend

Gain a deep and global understanding of market offerings and players related to your assigned category of spend and develop advanced relationships with key market players

Support in the development of well detailed categories and subcategories management plans and strategies related to your assigned categories through spend and forecast analysis, supplier capabilities’ evaluation and classification, assessment of internal and external supply influences and key cost structure and drivers

Work directly with global key collaborators to establish standard global technical specifications for your assigned category and subcategories and provide support to rationalize the ThermoFisher global related supply base

Handle, under the supervision of a senior sourcing and category manager, the end to end strategic sourcing of multi-million, cross divisions / cross geographies’ projects while ensuring customers engagement and compliance through the whole process

Follow multi step sourcing to gather project requirements, launch RFx initiatives directly or through outsourcing services (GEP), drive cross functional technical and commercial evaluation of vendors’ proposals to prepare and present sourcing recommendations to the selection committee / partners

Provide support to line management to draft, negotiate, develop, and complete sourcing and supplier performance management contracts, working closely with the legal function to ensure continuous risk mitigation and superior supplier performance in terms of quality, responsiveness, time to market, cost effectiveness and technological innovation.

Apply Global forecast tool to provide awareness of preferred suppliers on medium to long term ThermoFisher’ spend and negotiate preferential pricing and benefits

Participate in global special projects on innovation, digitalization, and standardization

Support the global capex supply base rationalization program to reduce operational complexity and secure the associated financial benefits for the ThermoFisher organization

Lead Level 1 & 2 claim issues and vendor disputes for critical equipment and projects

Participate in the global supplier performance and relationship management program by providing input to track key performance indicators and in the preparation of Quarterly and Annual business reviews of some selected key suppliers

Coordinate with Global SRM Senior Manager to obtain and maintain a continuous market intelligence and stay current on new products, services, trends and technologies, supplier capabilities and innovation opportunities

Adhere and ensure adherence by internal, external collaborators, and suppliers to all company, industry and countries’ specific standards, regulations, policies and procedures

Attend and chip in to face to face or virtual project meetings and quarterly and annual business reviews

Establish, partner and maintain business relationships with key internal customers from business divisions, finance, operations, engineering and other corporate functions to ensure complete alignment with Capex procurement CoE’s policies, procedures, category and sourcing plans and strategies

Work closely with key collaborators (procurement, finance etc.) to identify and secure bridgeable and non-bridgeable savings as reported through QuickBase tool to meet AOP yearly goals

Provide reports as and when needed to line management

Act as a backup for your peers during their leaves

Technical Responsibilities

Monitor market intelligence and key trends, assesses impact and refine category plans to support business requirements

Engage and support division/site procurement teams and other key colleagues to qualify preferred suppliers & migrate spend from incumbent, non-preferred suppliers

Analyze category supplier performance data to find opportunities for supplier performance improvement and to establish continuous improvement goals

Support supplier business reviews with suppliers to ensure both parties meet obligations under the terms of agreement, including performance standards and continuous improvement goals

Handle the impact of cost and risk when developing contracts

Drive negotiations for global agreements aligned with category strategy

Well versed in category management, strategic sourcing and supplier management standard methodologies with experience in sourcing capital expenditure

Ability to build link at various levels within the organization

Ability to understand and influence projects’ requirements while engaging cross functional internal and external customers

Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English language, second language is an advantage

Problem solver & result oriented with well-developed analytical and influencing skills

Ability to effectively work in a multicultural global business environment

Advanced presentation skills

Proficient in Microsoft office suite of products

Working knowledge in Enterprise Resource Planning and procurement systems such as SAP Ariba

Leadership Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues (quality, technical, operations, finance, etc.) to ensure all category sourcing activities are aligned to a common set of goals and priorities

Leads large base of contractors and suppliers to drive performance in pricing, manufacturing, delivery lead times, quality & risk management, and stimulates continuous improvement through joint initiatives

How will you get here?

Bachelor’s degree in Business or technical field. Master’s Degree is preferred

Minimum of 5 years procurement/sourcing experience in mid to large multinational companies, with strong category/business engagement experience

Business sense – knows how to assess market/business requirements dynamics and negotiate agreements that yield meaningful business value

Experience working in highly supervised industries

Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant year over year results

Demonstrated consultative/collaborative style in performing sourcing activities

Influences without authority to motivate and handle a cross-functional team in multiple geographies

CPSM or equivalent is preferred

Hands-on manufacturing and/or supply chain experience is preferred

Experience in life sciences, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries is preferred

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
