Title: Machine Operator - 2nd ShiftOlsten is currently assisting a local client in their search to fill a 2 nd Shift Polishing Machine Operator position in Lumberton, NC. This is a temporary to hire opportunity. As a Polishing Machine Operator, you will be responsible for Setting up, operating, or tending grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces. Sets up and operates polishing machine.
Selects polishing tools, such as belts and wheels and positions and mounts tools to machine tool, button or jig adjusts chuck.
Sets and adjusts machine controls according to product specifications utilizing knowledge of machine operation.
Starts and observes machine operation for conformance to specifications.
Picks up bowls from skid and places bowls next to polishing machines. Places bowl in machine basket on polishing machine and pulls spring over bowl to stabilize bowl and presses button for polishing machine to begin polishing bowl. After machine polishes bottoms and sides of bowls, removes bowls from polishing machine and places on overhead hanger.
Removes bowl and examines finish or luster to ensure surface meets specifications.
Makes minor repairs or replaces machine parts such as wheels and belts to maintain machine in operational condition. Does not make any electrical repairs.
Visually inspects stainless steel bowls for minor defects such as timing marks, gray in bowl, waves in bowls, burns, and dents and makes repairs using tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, channel locks
Qualifications:
Experience operating polishing machines.
Knowledge of polishing techniques and materials.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time.
