Description of WorkThis position with NCDOT offers fullState Benefits (https://oshr.nc.gov/state-employee-resources/benefits) , competitive salaries and many career development opportunities. Salary Grade: NC24 Salary Range: $82,011 - $159,922Hiring Range: $82,011 - $139,166.Internal Posting – Only temporary or permanent North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) employees or a layoff candidate with the NC Department of Transportation eligible for RIF priority reemployment consideration as described by General Statute (GS) 126 (State Personnel Act” may apply. Assist Division Construction Engineer in monitoring project schedules and completion. Track the status of final estimate compilation. Assist Resident/District Engineers in timely completion of final estimate assemblies. Coordinate resolution of final quantity discrepancies. Review and analyze claims for additional time and compensation; provide input and recommendations to Division Construction Engineer. Maintaining records (as-builts, project documentation etc.), coordinating public record requests, assist M&T in closing projects as necessary during the certification process whether older projects or more current ones. Assist Division Construction Engineer with Preliminary/Combined/Final Field Inspections. Conduct project site inspections. Provide project development input and scoping comments. Draft field inspection minutes for review, approval and transmittal. Monitor project development schedules and assist the Division Construction Engineer with staffing and workload projections. Ensure proper utility coordination and Right of Way acquisition during Pre-construction phase and verify utility authorizations and insure early relocation efforts. Serves as the Title VI Liaison for Division 14. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesApplicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:· Experience managing multiple, complex roadway and bridge construction projects both conventional and design build, with a broad scope for completeness, compatibility, compliance with engineering principles, standards, codes and design needs· Experience in performing engineering analysis and preparing technical, statistical, and managerial reports, presenting the information in a public setting· Experience in preconstruction activities in the planning and development of future projects· Experience collaborating with others in finding solutions to controversial or sensitive matters that establish precedents· Experience reviewing engineered plans and details to determine compliance and compatibility with construction and engineering principles, standards, codes, designs, and statutes· Experience supervising at least three permanent employees, contractors and/or consultantsMinimum Education and Experience RequirementsSome state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
