The Department of Pastoral Care at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC, is currently looking for a dedicated, passionate, and highly caring per diem chaplain to join the chaplaincy team. The department has robust ACPE CPE and clinical chaplaincy programs. The Per Diem Chaplain will provide the highest quality pastoral care to patients, family members, and the staff, focusing on the crisis and routine spiritual care needs during on-call shifts at UNC Hospitals.This position will be dedicated to providing on-call coverage by offering pastoral care to the patients, family members, and staff within the hospitals. The on-call coverage consists of 12-hour shifts during the weekends and some weeknights at the Main Campus, with occasional opportunities to cover on-call shifts for the Hillsborough Campus. The chaplain will respond to all critical and non-critical spiritual care needs identified by staff and other referral sources, initiate follow-up in crisis situations, complete all consults, document spiritual care encounters, provide grief support, offer rituals as requested, provide follow-up referrals to other chaplains, and complete administrative duties as assigned.This position schedule will be required as a On Call, per diem basisResponsibilities :
Provides pastoral care and support to patients, family members, and staff during assigned on-call shifts with full consideration of patient safety needs.
Participates in the ministry of the department through the overnight on-call schedule, responding pastorally and timely to all situations requiring pastoral care and support. This may include, but is not limited to deaths, codes, follow-up visits, referrals, and consults, and through leading worship services as required.
Responds to all pages, referrals, and EPIC consults during assigned shift, including all traumas, deaths, and codes.
Leaves referrals for other chaplain staff members for ongoing issues as necessary.
Documents all pastoral care encounters in EPIC and the departmental log.
Completes all administrative tasks such as LMS modules and Employee Health requirements by the deadline.
Must work at least one on-call shift per quarter.
