ABOUT THE PROGRAM Adams Electric Company's Summer Internship Program is a PAID, challenging, dynamic, fun and educational experience. We pride ourselves on allowing our interns to make a real value-added impact during their time with us by giving them opportunities to see the company from all different angles, participating in meetings with our clients and other team members, working on multiple projects and more! We take an individualized approach to our internships and specifically pair you with a mentor who knows the business and will grow your career interests. This is an 10 week program: The first 2 weeks of your internship experience, you will be placed on a jobsite where you will gain hands-on experience and work with our leadership out in the field. You will come into the office and work with our Pre-Construction team and learn the estimation and bidding process. Next, you will work with our Project Management Team for several days. Finally, you will spend the remaining weeks working with your mentor! JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Adams Electric (http://www.adams-electric.com/node/4) supports our own In-House Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Team. The VDC Team consists of Building Information Modeling (BIM) associates and technology that integrates the project team, systems, business models and construction practices into a collaborative process that adds value to our clients. Critical Thinking and Complex Problem Solving are skills that will be utilized and developed. Learn the latest AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks systems
Assist in coordination all layout and design of electrical systems in accordance with contract documents and Electrical Code
Conduct thorough clash detection studies and communicate to the project team effectively and quickly
Develop coordination studies and collaborative scheduling while working with other trades
Produce 3D BIM models using the latest information in dimensions, design specifications, materials and quantities
Develop and design "Model Families" for all electrical projects reflecting all current electrical code, specs, manufacturing data, electrical load and data
Learn how to produce construction documents and drawings from BIM/3D models
Assist in providing quantity takeoff, bill of materials and schedules from BIM/3D models
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
College Junior or Senior preferred
Design/Electrical Engineering/Construction Management and other related majors preferred
Analytical thinking and design
Strong computer skills
Ability to adapt in stressful/demanding situations
Strong teamwork skills
Knowledge of BlueBeam, Revit, Navis Works and/or other construction software and Virtual Design software
