Overview: This is a part time position. The normal office hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, however the number of hours and days required each week will be determined by the Education and Training Flight Chief and may be modified according to changing program needs. Normally 20 hours will be worked per week, 4 hours per day to provide services in support of 4 FSS/FSDE, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina voluntary off-duty education program to include providing Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) academic advisement, information, and guidance plus preparation of documents associated with the services provided and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university is required. Applicants must have knowledge of the CCAF degree programs. Excellent customer service skills, oral and written communication skills are essential. Knowledge and experience with the following: AF terminology, office procedures, AF education programs, WINDOWS 10, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
Job Description: Provide advisement (counseling) and enrollment procedures in support of the military, Department of Defense (DOD) personnel. Counsel authorized personnel regarding educational and vocational opportunities. Interviews personnel and reviews personal history, transcripts, test results, Air Force service records, etc. Assists personnel to recognize personal abilities and desires, establish realistic goals and develop knowledge of possible routes to achieve educational goals. Assists in making course and program choices and planning educational programs. Recommends course/program sequence for the off-duty educational program that will meet the needs of the Air Force and service personnel. Refers students to local educational institutions representative for registration and enrollment in courses or programs that pertain to their educational goals. Provides information on available resource material for study such as the library. Provides in-depth counseling on use of MGIB education benefits and updates GI Bill codes. Provides information regarding Air Force tuition assistance, federal financial assistance programs, local scholarships, and Air Force Aid Society grants to all eligible personnel. Assist students with completion of all applicable forms/applications.
