This position performs technical duties supporting engineers and other professionals in areas such as construction, materials testing, design, surveys and/or program and regulatory compliance. Work functions may include inspection for compliance and/or code, collection, and analysis of field data, testing of materials, review, medication and/or design of plans, analysis of engineering related data, products and/or functions. “Applicants that do not have a college degree may qualify for this position with an application that reflects at least two years for engineering technician related duties. ”Steel toe footwear needed.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Considerable knowledge / understanding of NCDOT concepts, practices, and theories used in highway construction.
Experience in maintaining detailed records and reports.
Experience in the use of computers and computer software.
Knowledge of contract administration to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the department specifications, standard drawings, and policies.
Proficiency in mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, & trigonometry.
