We are immediately hiring a Diesel Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our location in Charlotte, NC. This is a skilled position involving making repairs to and maintaining construction equipment and mechanical equipment such as trucks, trailers, pavers, rollers and other equipment. Report directly to the Shop supervisor on a daily basis.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm but also on-call during the weekend and evenings on special occasions. Overtime pay after working 40 hours is available.
Must have a valid driver's license
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Key Duties
Maintains a minimum set of tools required for job performance
Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and electronic systems & troubleshooting skills
Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Work in a neat, orderly and safe manner, constantly seeking to improve methods and the safety of others
Be knowledgeable of OSHA requirements
Cares and maintains company machines/equipment and ensures co-workers are doing the same
Must have the ability to research parts in manuals, completes material requisitions, follow-up on parts orders as well as
returning cores and unused parts.
Minimum of 5 years experience as a mechanic and/or combination of technical education and mechanical experience in heavy
construction equipment
Ability to operate equipment for repair purposes
Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the construction industry
Ability to use a high degree of independent judgement
Doing preventive maintenance services on truck, trailer and heavy equipment.

Qualification Requirements
Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an Asphalt Paving
Superintendent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
o Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.
Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key
Duties.
o Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
o Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools.
o Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Heavy Equipment
Mechanic encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
o Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
o Work may be performed on a non-traditional work schedule which may occasionally include nights and/or weekends.
o Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust.
o Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
o Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on a construction site such as form oil, grease, curing
compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and asphalt.
