Construction Law Firm seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our North Carolina/South Carolina offices. Within this position, you will be responsible for assisting attorneys and case teams in all phases and aspects of litigation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide high level, detail focused, and proactive litigation support
-Calendar deadlines
-Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in civil litigation, state (NC & SC) and federal court procedures
-Draft correspondence and legal documents including deposition notices, contracts, briefs, complaints, subpoenas, motions, and other pleadings
-Perform conflicts checks
-Conduct legal research
-Provide additional support to attorneys during court hearings, depositions, trials, arbitration/mediation
-Organize and manage electronic and paper files
-Ensure that all files are maintained within department-approved protocols and case management systems
-File documents with any applicable court system
REQUIREMENTS:
-Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills
-Excellent attention to detail and deadlines
-Excellent organizational skills
-Ability to work well independently, as well as effectively, within a team
-Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
-Knowledge of state and federal court process and procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification
-Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a legal assistant position or a position requiring similar skillset, expertise, and experience
