Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer II to join our Electrical Design Group’s Renewable Energy team in our Charlotte, NC office location.   Strong candidates located in other geographic locations will be considered to work remotely. This group focuses on power generation and renewable energy projects throughout the country including solar farms and battery storage projects.  Since this is an immediate need, signing bonuses are offered.Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Supports Project Managers or other staff on design of power generation and renewable energy projectsProvides input to senior engineering staff on design issues based on the results of calculations or engineering solutionsParticipates in the creation of engineering services proposals, including the calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work as well as budget developmentPerforms electrical engineering design of solar PV/BESS power systems ranging from 1-500+ MW interconnected at medium voltage levelsPerforms design of complete construction drawings including medium and low voltage AC, DC, grounding, wiring diagrams, electrical site plans and equipment layoutsPrepares supporting calculations of the PV field DC and AC collection electrical infrastructure design including equipment, conductor, conduit, OCPD sizing and voltage drop/power lossAssembles design drawings and documents and provide/coordinate delivery to clientsPerforms QA/QC processes through design and construction phases including medium voltage collection system design projectsResponsible for Technical Engineering Input and evaluation associated with electrical designPerforms collection design including single line diagrams, collection system layouts, communication diagrams, power cable sizing and cable schedules, wiring diagrams following applicable industry standard codesDemonstrates conformance with State, NEC and NESC codes to documentsSkills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited programKnowledge of industry standards and codesTwo (2) or more of electrical engineering experienceDetailed design engineering experience and/or owners’ engineering experience in generating facilities and/or substationsProficiency with Microsoft Word and ExcelMust be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and accountable for assigned responsibilitiesMust have excellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the futurePreferred skills of a successful candidate include:Engineer in Training Certification / Professional Engineer registration strongly preferredExperience in PV collection designEngineering power systems modeling experienceUnderstanding and experience in project management and client interfacingETAP or SKM software experienceProficiency with AutoCADKnowledge and implementation of QA/QC processes
