vitrifiedstudio in Portland Oregon is hiring a skilled slip cast and mold making studio production assistant. You will be slip casting pottery with our molds, and also responsible for making new molds with our hand thrown models using plaster and silicone. This is a position for 3-5 days a week, between the hours of 8 am to 4 pm. You must have experience with both slip casting and molding making in a ceramics studio. Mold prep, slip mixing, lifting up to 50 pounds, casting, de-molding, wheel trimming, clay stamping, kiln firing, product inspection, inventory and work flow management, and work station organization and clean up Other possible studio tasks will include packing and shipping, glazing, general studio cleaning, and possible computer work using illustrator and photoshop (this can be trained) .
Our sales platforms are website shops in Shopify and Etsy. Some customer service via email may be required.
This position can start immediately. Please provide a resume, cover letter, and slip casting and mold making work sample portfolio. We will not consider any applicants without slip cast and pottery mold making experience.
This is a production studio, and the ability to properly complete assigned tasks at production rates is required.
We are a custom urn pottery studio, and the work we make needs to be made quickly and correctly as most all of our orders are headed to funerals and grieving families. We have great pride in the products that we make.
The pay will be based on your experience level, starting at $25 per hour, with higher pay based on more experience and successful production pace capabilities. Please contact us about a relocation allowance.
