Spicewalla is a chef-driven spice company located in Asheville, NC. We offer fresh spices that are all packed and processed with care. Spicewalla is a part of the Chai Pani Restaurant Group family, known around town as a great place to work.
Position Summary:
The production team is the heartbeat of our operations, where we ensure the absolute best quality and consistency in the products we sell. Throughout the week, the team works to complete pre-planned production runs, to replenish backstock and fill direct orders. Each person works directly with the spices, both independently and as a team, filling various containers. Part of each week includes labeling tins, making collections boxes, and assembling collections. Basically, our team works steadily to create the mindblasting products we sell to our customers!
Essential Duties:
Identify spices and blends for packing
Mix and blend spices following a recipe
Pack tin, jars, and bags to appropriate fill
Packing methods can include independently filling both manually (with a scoop) or machine assisted (filling machine), as well as with a team on an assembly line
Label tins and products for retail and wholesale orders
Package filled and labeled tins into collection boxes
Maintain production logs and label sign offs for Food Safety compliance
Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) including wearing gloves, hairnets, and other PPE to ensure a sanitary work environment.
Daily clean up of work area
Monthly deep clean of the factory
Other duties may include helping unload spice deliveries, gathering supplies needed from the warehouse, and assisting in the fulfillment department

Qualifications/ Experience/ Skills:
Positive attitude

Reliable and punctual
Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a focused manner
Capable of consistently hitting production metrics and benchmarks
Previous experience in food manufacturing, food service, or general manufacturing is a plus
Physical Demands:
Standing for extended periods of time
Independently lift 50 pounds
Repetitive tasks with infrequent rest periods
Work Environment:
Working indoors, with relative temperature control of 68 degrees and low humidity
Various and sometimes strong spice aromas
Occasionally working near loud noises and industrial equipment
Schedule : Mon - Fri, 9am- 5pm (40 hour work week)

After the 60-day new hire training period, a performance evaluation will be scheduled. If determined to meet our performance, conduct, and attendance expectations new hires will receive the following:
$1/hr additional pay
5 days of PTO per year (pro rated for the first year based on your evaluation date)
