SummaryAbout our opportunity:The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Laborer at Harrah's Cherokee Center Asheville, within the Community & Regional Entertainment Facilities Department. Located in Downtown Asheville, Harrah’s is host to a variety of year-round events including well-known musicians and bands, comedy, fairs, ballets, and more! This role of the Laborer is to perform essential behind-the-scenes work that ensures these events run smoothly, including event setup and breakdown, routine custodial duties, and assisting with maintenance tasks.What you’ll be doing:

Providing routine custodial services for bathrooms, offices, and event spaces.

Setting up tables, chairs, staging, and equipment for events.

Performing weather-related maintenance such as snow shoveling and ice melt application.

Responding promptly to requests and ensuring effective communication with the public and clients.

Assisting in training temporary employees and maintaining a courteous demeanor at all times, especially in proximity to performers or athletes.

Performing other related duties as assigned.

Benefits:

Salary: $18.25 - $19.16 per hour, eligible for overtime in accordance with City Policy.

About you: We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:

Must be at least 18 years old.

High School Diploma preferred but not required.

Prior custodial and/or event setup experience is advantageous.

Other things to know:

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position. The schedule includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays based on the event schedule.

Training in workplace safety and blood borne pathogens will be provided.
