Rosebud Playschool Assistant/Afternoon Teacher
To apply, please submit your resume, cover letter, and three references to [email protected]
The role of the assistant teacher is a vital one and your work is so appreciated! The primary tasks of the assistant teacher are to support the work of the lead teacher by: preparing food, maintaining a tidy and clean space, offering one on one support as needed so the lead can hold the group, etc. In general, we ask that discipline and group direction are the domain of the lead; there may be times the lead teacher is unavailable and you will need to step into these roles, using similar words and the same approach that has been modeled by the lead. In a Waldorf Early Childhood classroom, adults avoid excessive talking, explicit direction-giving, and interference with the children’s play unless necessary for conflict support, etc. Guidance is offered largely through modeling, the use of song and gesture, and very intentional use of the spoken word.
We are hoping to find a teacher who would like to stay in the afternoons to provide care for 2-3 children; this would be an arrangement directly between you and the parents, with a small charge for “rental” of the classroom space.
At this time, we are unable to accommodate the children of teachers within the classroom.
