Summary: The Teacher’s primary objective is to provide Kindergarten participants in the After School Setting with instruction in Literacy. In this role, you will foster students’ intellectual growth by promoting research in academic topics with the end goal of developing strong skills in reading, writing and phonics. SCHEDULE:

Location: Lafrancis Hardiman Annex

Address: 30 Deforest Rd. Dix Hills, NY 11746

Days/Hours: Monday 3:30pm-5:30pm

Duration: February-June

This role requires you to be in-person

Salary / Stipend rate: $30 per hour (Teachers) $20.00 (Teacher Assistants/Aides)

Essential Job Functions:

Create and execute lesson plans, evaluate each participant’s progress via a comprehensive grading system and provide innovative instruction to the group

Present the content using language appropriate to the participants’ age group and as outlined in lesson plans.

Provide participants with opportunities to practice and grow the skill sets they have obtained through educational and recreational activities

Implement a system to ensure the successful delivery of material and a feedback system between staff and participants

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

NYS Teacher Certification Required, NYS Teacher Assistant Certification (optional) as applicable.

At least 1 year experience successfully teaching and instructing youth

Knowledge of curriculum writing and execution of lesson plans

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families and school partners including school administration and staff

Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills

Analyzes problems and implements solutions in a fast-paced setting, paying strong attention to detail.
