Our Subject Matter Experts offer decades of experience working in the federal marketplace and the data visualization environment.The Audio-Visual (AV) Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of visual information facilities and equipment, to support USMA at West Point and its directorates and organizations who own and operate over 400 classrooms and meeting rooms.Responsibilities

Support the approach to be taken and equipment needed for visual presentations.

Develop and deploy prototype audio-visual equipment and systems.

Respond to visual information requirements that encompass, but are not limited to computer projection, TV displays, graphics projections, special effects graphics, and limited telephone equipment.

Install, maintain, and support of all AV equipment, including the maintenance and integration into USMA networks and systems as required.

Maintain and install audio systems for the classrooms and meeting rooms.

Accomplish the required preventative maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations.

Manage the warranty, replacement, and repair of AV equipment and service to support classrooms, auditoriums, and meeting rooms.

Ensure the proper movement of equipment to guard against damage.

Move and/or set up audio-visual equipment.

As required operate audio-visual equipment.

Inspect equipment to detect possible malfunctions and ensure regularly scheduled maintenance is performed at proper intervals.

Perform installation and local operator maintenance on all audiovisual, video teleconferencing, and recording equipment.

Make minor adjustments and diagnose simple malfunctions to expedite the repair process.

Arrange for pick up or on-site repair of major problems.

Support training and/or provide equipment for others to train in the operation of audio-visual projection equipment.

Support training on the use of AV equipment that may include sketches, pictures, transparencies, projector parts, and demonstration methods to instruct in all phases of operation.

Prepare various handout materials.

Maintain follow-up to assist in on-the-job problems and evaluate the effectiveness of training.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Must possess an AVIXA certification

Must obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within 90 days of start date

Background check required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of, use, and maintenance requirements for a wide range of audio-visual equipment and ability to instruct functional users in the use of equipment.

Work requires physical exertion to set up audio-visual equipment and to disassemble same.

This work may require the use of ladders, lifts, and tight spaces for installation and maintenance of equipment.

Various audio-visual equipment must be loaded/unloaded to set up for events.

The contracted technician must be able to physically perform these tasks.
