Description Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with a Utica client of his that has outstanding work life balance and over 4 weeks of vacation. This organization has great benefits too!The Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, adherence to regulatory compliance, and the efficient management of the company’s accounting practices. The Controller will work closely with senior management to support strategic decision-making and contribute to the company’s financial health and operational success.Key Responsibilities includeFinancial Management:

Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and tax compliance.

Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.

Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP or other relevant standards.

Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for management and stakeholders.

Analyze financial performance and provide insights to inform strategic decisions.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings and audits.

Coordinate and manage external audits and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.

Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks.

Team Leadership:

Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.

Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of accounting staff.

Collaborate cross-functionally to support organizational goals and initiatives.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA is an asset.

Progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership role.
