Temp Associate Scientist(Connective Tissue Disorders)We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join the Connective Tissue Disorders Therapeutic Focus Area. This is a bench-based discovery research role supporting the development of therapeutics using preclinical mouse models of cartilage and bone diseases. Has good understanding of and the ability to apply established principles of mouse models in cartilage and bone diseases, follow standard operating protocols in in vivo & in vitro research. Essential Functionsrequired for the job:· Able to perform in vivo experiments using mouse models - responsibilities include dosing mice via s.c., i.v., oral gavage, to assist in rodent surgeries, and take down and subsequent analysis. · Responsible for managing mouse cohorts - monitoring mice for health status, recording clinical observations at regular intervals and routine bio-fluid collections. · Responsible for performing ex vivo assays (e.g., ELISAs to determine drug levels and MAHA), in vitro assays and support with in vivo experiments in mouse models. · Basic molecular biology (e.g. cloning, transfection, DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR), biochemical methods (SDS-page, western blot) and immunofluorescence, FACS techniques. Candidates are expected to have a bachelor's degree in biology or a related field with 0-2 years of lab related experiences and to have established an ability to understand biological research. Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to use sound judgement to effectively solve problems, display excellent critical thinking skills and ability to follow protocols under supervision. Good organization skills, excellent attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, perform as a teammate. Some weekend and evening flexibility will be required.
