This Live In Caregiver position is for a 69 year old female "JZ" with developmental disabilities. She is non-verbal but communicates through vocalizations and gestures. Her mobility is decreasing and she needs some support to move safely. You would move in with JZ in her lovely 3 bedroom apartment in the Syracuse University area. She likes her own space and can be overwhelmed by crowds or too much stimulation. Two agencies provide JZ with day time care, including meals and personal care. You would be responsible for overnights. There is no hourly pay for overnights, but you would live there rent free. Utilities and internet are also covered. You would also be eligible for reimbursement for groceries.

You would be hired by EFR, receive training as a DSP and then be eligible to cover day care for JZ at $29 per hour, or for other EFR clients. To also be eligible to be a Personal Care Assistant, you would have to apply to AccessCNY using the NY CDPAP PPL website. The rate for PCA is $19.71 per hour. Typically the live in care giver will cover 20 hours of PCA for JZ per week.
