The onsite Construction Manager is responsible for the day to day coordination and oversight of a single small scale project or may be part of larger project team on large scale projects.Position Responsibilities
Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of site activities for projects up to $10 million or assist on projects that are more complex.
Plan, organize and direct activities of the project to minimize the impact on the owner’s operations and staff
Coordinate activities between contractors onsite, resolve contractor coordination disputes
Review installation of contractors work for conformance with drawings and specifications
Maintain an accurate project record, including a daily log of all project related activities and communications.
Review payment applications for acceptance of completed work
Review change orders for validation of additional scope
Work with design team to resolve contractor’s questions or field conditions
Maintain an updated set of drawings and specifications
Assist in the preparation of project status reports.
Develop, monitor and track project deficiencies, including punch lists
Develop project schedules and short interval schedules
Assist in the management of the project budget
Assist in the completion of pre-construction activities such as project phasing, scheduling, cost estimating, etc.
Develops and maintains relationships with clients, potential clients, subcontractors and vendors to help develop new opportunities.
Utilize safe work practices in accordance with federal, state, local, and company standards.
Communicate incidents, accidents, near misses, potential hazards, and unsafe working conditions to a supervisor or the Health and Safety Department as soon as identified.
Skills/Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering Discipline
Associates degree with 2-5 years of trade level experience in a Supervisory or Project Engineer Role as an alternative to a Bachelor’s Degree.
8+ years of trade level experience in lieu of Degree
Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple different entities to proactively identify and resolve issues on a daily basis.
Understanding of construction / engineering practices
Use of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel and Word
Use of Project Management and Scheduling Software
