Job Summary: This is a FT position in Cardiac Surgery for an Advanced Practice Provider. The Cardiac Surgery APP will be responsible for First Assist & ICU coverage on a 24 x 7 service. This will include 24 hour in-house coverage rotating with team, OR first assist case coverage for day, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis. The APP team is responsible for the care of all Cardiac Surgery admitted patients and patients requiring consultation. Responsibilities include expert level clinical care & coordination of care via a full range of services that will improve quality of patient care assessing & evaluating patients, ordering appropriate laboratory testing & diagnostic studies, arranging for referrals, testing, consultation & therapeutic services, and maintaining outstanding relationships with families, referring physicians & all members of the health care team.Minimum Qualifications: NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or a Certified Physician Assistant & current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice also required. NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire).CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.3-5 years First Assist experience. Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years first assist experience within cardiac surgery, Cardiac ICU experience.Work Days: 8 & 12 hour shifts, with rotation to nights, weekends and holidays.
