JMT, is currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for performing load rating calculations on bridges and culverts of varying complexity in accordance with AASHTO and NYSDOT specifications; performing safe load capacity calculations for load posting; performing capacity and demand analysis other vertical structures; preparing and checking calculations and reports prepared by others for conformance with specifications and standards; designing and detailing structural components for flag repairs; and preparing construction cost estimates and specifications for flag repair details.  The successful candidate will use knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Compensation is $40.00-$55.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Analyze survey reports, maps, as-built drawings, shop drawings, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to build analytical bridge models and calculation sheets

Perform structural analysis computations using computer models, MathCAD, spreadsheets, and hand calculations

Progress designs in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools

Preparation of engineering plans, specifications, estimates, documents and reports

Attend meetings with clients

Coordinate with team members, clients, subconsultants and in-house support disciplines to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality

Required SkillsRequired Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program AND a minimum of 4 years’ experience in bridge design or bridge inspection

OR

Possess a New York State issued Professional Engineer’s License with current registration (or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 3 months) AND a minimum of 2 years’ experience in bridge design or bridge inspection

Proficiency with one or more discipline specific design software: AASHTOWare BRDR, Bentley STAAD.Pro, CSi Bridge, Bentley RM Bridge, MDX, Bentley LEAP, etc.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

Preferred Experience

Experience working on a NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Term Agreement project.

Experience performing Level 1 and Level 2 Load Ratings with AASHTOWare BrDR.

Working Conditions

This position may be treated as hybrid with the candidate working remotely multiple days per week depending on candidate experience , team needs, and manager ’s preference.

Work is performed within a general office environment 8 5 % of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs ) may be required as needed.
