A leading utility provider located in Spring Valley, NY is looking for a Technical SME (Java/Oracle) for a 6-12 month contract.

Some onsite work is required throughout the life of the contract, and is likely to increase over time. Local candidates only.

To be considered for this position, the client has advised that upon placement, consultants will be required to wear a mask under certain circumstances, show proof of full vaccination or submit on a weekly basis proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR diagnostic test

Requirements and skills

  • Java/J2EE, Spring, Microservices
  • Database knowledge
  • Excellent Proficiency writing SQL and SQL scripts
  • Oracle Required
  • Version Control
  • Github
  • TFS
  • Linux knowledge and proficiency in navigating the command line/familiarity with common Linux tools
  • Bash scripting
  • Excellent customer facing skills that include conducting compelling technical briefing & demonstrations. The person should have a technical aptitude to implement new technologies and articulate the solutions to the customer.

Desired Skills

  • PostgreSQL Preferred
  • Red Hat preferred
  • Perl is a plus
  • Familiarity with Oracle Utilities Outage Management suite of applications strongly preferred (Oracle Network Management System - NMS, in particular)
  • Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information System) preferred
  • Familiarity with Utility industry, particularly Outage Management preferred

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a strong technical SME to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a range of IT skills spanning Java development, Linux, Scripting (multiple languages) and knowledge of Databases (SQL and associated skills, not database administration).
  • The ideal candidate will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and will be proficient at authoring technical documentation.
  • This candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining various applications and interfaces that support the overall Outage Management suite of systems.
