NYS Teacher certification, counseling, or social work degree preferred but not necessary.REPORTS TO:Director of Positive Interventions and Family ConnectednessSALARY AND BENEFITS: Per SCTA Contract-41,200-$50,000 commensurate with experienceDESCRIPTION:Under the direction of the Director of Positive Interventions and Family Connectedness leads and oversees the development and implementation of Silver Creek Central School's Native American Education Programming. The coordinator holds the responsibility of collaborating closely with district and building administrators, educators, support staff, families, and students to ensure a program that uses data to meet the needs of every Native American student and family. The coordinator will organize, plan, lead, and engage in activities that meet the diverse educational and social-emotional needs of Silver Creek's Native American students and families. S/he will assist in building capacity among our teachers and administrators to effectively implement these initiatives to improve student outcomes.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Title VI Grant Coordinator, which includes writing and implementing the District's Title VI grant.

Grant knowledge and understanding of budgeting, reporting, and data analysis preferred.

Plan and lead Title VI Committee meetings.

Meet regularly with Native American Service Providers to ensure program objectives are being carried out.

Act as a liaison between the Native American community, school officials and other community representatives, explaining programs and addressing concerns.

Assist in planning professional development for faculty and staff around culturally responsive practices and Native American culture.

Collaborate with building principals to ensure consistency across the district in Native American Education Programming.

Collaborate with each building principal to establish a schedule and plan within each building.

Ensure continuity of services to students and families through classroom and building transitions.

Assist building level administration, teachers, and counseling staff in family communications when necessary.

Assist building level administration with student re-entry plans and restorative practices.

Monitor attendance, discipline, and achievement data of Native American Students and collaborate with building and district administration for necessary interventions and improvement plans.

Meet with administrators, staff, and families to identify and resolve problems.

Attend and participate in SST, CSE, or other individual student meetings as they pertain to Native American Students.

Understand the budget allocated for Native American funding within the district budget and assist with necessary reporting for grants.

Attend Silver Creek Administrative Council meetings monthly.

Evaluate program effectiveness and present accomplishments and needs to the Superintendent and Board of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of culturally responsive strategies and supports for Native American students and families.

Experience with technical skills to effectively fill the roles and duties within Title VI programming preferred.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

NYS Teacher certification, counseling or social work degree preferred but not necessary.
