High levels of Commercial judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.Job DescriptionRole Summary/PurposeThis position is for Technical Director, Generation Products & Services team with focus on Grid Code Testing, within the Consulting Services organization, working across several other teams and cross functionally. Consulting Services offers our global clients a wide range of solutions across power generation, delivery and utilization.Essential Responsibilities

Mentor team of engineers in support of GE and Non-GE power generation customers.

Identify and cultivate new customers and business opportunities. Develop projects with customers; manage contracts to ensure technical, schedule and cost objectives are met; actively participate in identifying and cultivating new customers and business opportunities; lead preparation of proposals, project creation/assignment, billing and closing; and make customer presentations.

Actively participate in strategic planning and development of GE product/service offerings and support New Product/Technology Introductions concurrent with GE business needs.

Support domestic and global projects across regions depending on overall market needs, and communicate customer needs and values back to GE to support marketing initiatives.

Actively participate in Industry forums to influence regulations and promote GE, Consulting Services and GE technology.

Effectively communicate results to both internal and external executives by preparing written detailed and summary reports and making presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions.

Work closely with Consulting Services managers in project inquiry-to-order (ITO) phase

Schedule and hold regular technical-focused team meetings to encourage and ensure technology growth/sharing among the dispersed and continuously traveling team.

Work closely with other CS verticals (e.g. SW team) to ensure sharing and improvement of tools.

Review technical reports for team prior to submittal to customers.

Develop, advertise and enforce a standard template for reports and studies to be used by the team in line with company and Consulting Services branding policy and guidelines.

Stay abreast of Global Grid Code Compliance Standards and Requirements, and drive changes and processes to increase Consulting Services competitive position in services provided.

Be the gatekeeper of the team tools, creating control access, inventory, owners, review process, and new tool development.

Provide technical guidance for the team on test equipment and vendor evaluation.

Support field testing remotely or in-person on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or electric power engineering from an accredited university or college.

Minimum of 10 years professional experience in engineering, product management or a related function.

Eligibility Requirements:

Willingness to travel as needed (up to 20%).

Desired Characteristics:

Demonstrated knowledge in electrical or electric power engineering, conventional and renewable power plant design and operation.

Demonstrated capability to complete projects on-time and on-budget as either individual contributor or project manager.

Demonstrated technical leadership in creating winning proposals and managing delivery of large projects.

Demonstrated ability to perform engineering analysis and design, develop engineering solutions in a team environment, and to provide technical consulting services to customers.

Familiarity with NERC and global Grid Code Compliance Standards, and power plant testing requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams to high value technical solutions.

Proficiency with office productivity software e.g. MS Office, Visio, MS Project.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills (e.g. ability to effectively communicate with all levels of GE and customer/plant staff).

Understanding of grid systems interactions with power plant equipment and controls.

Strong project management skills.

Advanced degree in electrical, mechanical, or electric power engineering from an accredited university or college.

Strong knowledge of utility transmission planning practices, grid code compliance and regulatory standards for power system performance.

1+ year of field experience with GE or other OEM Thermal and Renewable power generation control systems.

1+ year of experience planning and executing of electrical/mechanical tests in thermal and renewable power plants to meet grid code or interconnection requirements and validating utility planning models per requirements from NERC and other jurisdictions in Europe and Asia.

1+ year of experience with power equipment dynamic modeling and simulation in key software analytic tools such as ETAP, ATP, PSLF, PSS/E, MATLAB, DigSilent PowerFactory, Python, and PSCAD.

2+ years of experience with GE or other OEM generators, turbine controls and excitation system design, implementation and testing.

Solid knowledge of protection systems design, schemes, settings, relays, and standards.

Track record of industry reputation and recognition.

5+ years of experience in power systems operations and equipment: generation, transmission, distribution and industrial; and protection and control design concepts for major power systems equipment.

Solid understanding of controls concepts for grid-interactive power systems equipment and controls, e.g.: automatic voltage regulators, and power system stabilizers.

Understanding of generators, transformers, circuit breakers, generator protection, closed loop voltage regulator controls, governor and power/frequency control, arresters, shunt and series applications of capacitors, synchronous condensers, power electronic converters for renewable energy (wind and solar) and industrial applications.

Six Sigma training certification (GE candidates only).

The base pay range for this position is $128,200 - $175,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus.
