Job Title: Staff AuditorReports to: Director of Internal AuditFLSA Status: ExemptSalary Grade: EX02Supervisory Responsibility: NoSUMMARY:The Staff Auditor is an entry level position within the Internal Audit Department. Under the direct supervision of an Internal Audit Manager/Officer, participate in the completion of various internal audits. The Staff Auditor is responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures are being followed consistently throughout the organization in order to safeguard its assets, verify the accuracy and reliability of its accounting data, and promote adherence to the prescribed policies.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor and/or Trustco Bank’s Board of Directors.

Under the direct supervision of a management level auditor, the staff auditor will assist in completion of financial compliance and operational audits and SOX related work throughout all areas of the company.

Adherence to the Bank’s code of conduct and the Audit Department’s established policies and procedures.

Completes in-branch audits throughout the branch network.

Completes teller cash counts and investigates teller differences.

Maintains tracking reports on teller differences.

Performs financial, operational, and confirmation audits and completes audit work papers.

Responsible for coordinating and completing the schedule of monthly reports provided by the branches.

Continues to building proficiency of internal audit techniques and accounting principles by attending internal training, external training, and completion of continuing education courses.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:· A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and/or two years’ experience or equivalent level of education and experience.· Effective verbal and written communication skills.· Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time sensitive deadlines.· Ability to work well independently and in groups.· Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word.PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:· Certifications including CPA, CIA, CISA, CFIRS, CBA, CRCM desired or working to obtain a certification within two years.POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS:This is a full-time position. Office hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.TRAVEL:Travel using personal vehicle, occasional overnight travel. Valid driver’s license required.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace ; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
