Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionPRIMARY FUNCTIONUnder general supervision Layout, design, install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, test and repair pipes and fittings of mechanical utility piping systems, chillers that include hot water, chilled water, steam, compressed air, sewer, chemicals, fuel oil, gasses and other related systems following local and state codes. Read and understand system prints and schematics. In this role, you will be required to move and work in confined spaces, up and down ladders and to work from ladders, scaffolding and aerial lift platforms.DUTIES & RESPONSILIBITIESInstalls & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves, for water, gas, steam, and air systems.Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.Assembles fittings and valves for installation.Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed.Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom liftsOperate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveriesEnsure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and suppliesPromote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practicesOrder materials and parts for job executionUse current CMMS work order system to process and complete job assignmentsAccess Building Management System to review HVAC systems and make changes if neededPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMust have at least one of the following:AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities TechnologyAOS degree in HVAC or Construction & MaintenanceMilitary Training Course in related field3 years work experience in a Manufacturing Facility (with references)3 years proven experience in Commercial HVAC service and installation.Completion of 2 years of a Plumber/Steamfitter Apprentice Program (considered 3rd year apprentice)Journeyman SteamfitterLicensed NYS PlumberDESIRED REQUIREMENTS5+ Years in a manufacturing facilityExperience with underground pipingBackflow preventer certificationEPA Refrigerant certificationThe base pay range for this position is $26.44 to $33.50 per hour with a $5.28 per hour transition adder. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
