Position Information Position Title CADD Instructor Position Category Faculty Position Status 10 Month FLSA Exempt Advertised Salary $52,217 Department Business & STEM Working Hours Varies General Description SUNY Niagara is seeking a full-time, tenure track instructor in CADD . The CADD program and department are housed in the Business and STEM Division. The CADD Instructor will be responsible for student advisement, assessment of learning outcomes, participation in divisional and college activities, and all required duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook. The typical teaching load is 15 lecture hours or 18 lecture/lab hours per semester, which will be comprised of both face-to-face instruction on campus and, once necessary training is completed, online modalities. In addition, the instructor will be responsible for attending regular office hours, meetings on campus, and participating in committees. Teaching assignments may be during day, evening, or weekend hours. The instructor may be tasked with coordination of the CADD program.Lectures are typically one to three contact hours per week per course and labs are typically one to six contact hours per week per course. CADD courses currently offered by the department include Introduction to CAD (with lab), Drafting Techniques I (with lab), Process Piping Drafting (with lab), Civil/Arch Commercial Drafting (with lab), ASME Pressure Vessel and Structure Design (with lab), Advanced CADD (with lab), Mechanical Design (with lab), and Structural Design Drafting for CADD (with lab). Classes are held on the main campus in Sanborn.The start date of this position will be late August for the begining of the Fall 2025 Semester. This position will only be required to work 162 days per academic year (August – May) and will be provided with a winter break from mid-December to early January, and a Spring Break for one week in mid-March. Provide instruction with the focus on teaching and learning to help ensure students in each class successfully meet all course outcomes and classroom objectives

Ensure appropriate course-level rigor in class instruction and assessment methodologies.

Development, integration, and delivery of course content planning documents including, but not limited to, course syllabi and assessments.

Establish and maintain a classroom climate consistent with the SUNY Niagara mission and vision.

Provide at least 5 office hours per week.

Professional Development

Participate in professional development activities.

Maintain a current knowledge of discipline/field of study as evidenced by active participation in professional organizations, maintenance of current scholarly collection of resources, and engagement in active, on-going dialogue with peer faculty and industry experts.

Participate in faculty development opportunities, including program-specific and campus-wide faculty meetings.

Administrative Duties

Meet requirements for creation, distribution, retention and/or submission of paperwork.

Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process by providing feedback to Program Coordinator and/or the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Complete required reporting such as student attendance, census, student learning outcome progress (course level), and final grade calculation and entry.

Attend required College functions/events.

Participate in faculty senate and divisional committees

Advise students for classes and career options.

If applicable, as program coordinator:

Recordkeeping, budgeting, scheduling

Program updates (syllabi, degree requirements)

New course and program development

Represent the program at open houses

Program evaluation ( PEER ) and Advisory Board

Hiring, training, and evaluation of adjunct faculty and part-time technical assistants

Supervision of College Accelerated Program ( CAP ) courses at local high schools

Essential Functions

Must be able to navigate relationships with a diverse population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, co-workers, supervisors, and the community. Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information. Must be technologically adept. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.Required Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology or related field OR.

An Associates degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design with five (5) years industry experience

Desirable Qualifications

A Masters of Science or PhD in Engineering Technology or a discipline that relates to this position

Minimum two (2) years (or part time equivalent) teaching experience in higher education

Experience with classroom technologies including learning management systems and Zoom

Experience with using online publisher content and homework/testing management systems.
