Ophthalmic Technician
We are seeking a full time Ophthalmic Technician to work in our busy Retina practice. This position requires a good understanding of ophthalmic practices and patient care. Knowledge of medical instrumentation and its proper care and use. Ability to assess common safety hazards and take precautions to establish a safe work environment. Ability to communicate with patients, coworkers, and supervisor is critical. Medent experience preferred but not necessary. Bilingual speakers preferred but not necessary.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Ophthalmic technicians are responsible for performing specialty testing, measurements, and preparing patients before they see the doctor. This also includes a taking a medical history and chief complaint, review of medical systems, etc.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: medical terminology, good computer skills, ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards. Confidentiality and ability to comply with safe work practices. Must be able to multi-task, retain a large amount of information in a short amount of time
Minimum job requirements: High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year office experience. Medent experience a plus but not necessary.
List of Responsibilities/Duties
Prepare rooms per MD requirements
Prepare injection supplies
Perform technical work ups, patient work ups and special testing.
Maintain and clean all equipment.
Clean exam rooms in between patients and at end of day.
Return phone calls to patient and pharmacies
Promptly and professionally assist the doctor during patient care.
Comply with HIPAA
Minimum Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Certified Ophthalmic Technician a plus
Certified Radiology Technician a plus

Salary: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
