GENERAL PURPOSE:Responsible for supervision of the sales floor, using independent judgement. Open and close the store and oversee the volunteer team. Maximize sales opportunities and positive customer relations through superior customer service, awareness of inventory, events and exhibits. Understanding of all Gallery Store computer systems and ability to troubleshoot computer problems. Works in partnership with Asst. Manager of Operations. Maintains superior visual presentation of the store.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work on sales floor to ensure consistent staffing and enforce sales floor standards.

Act as computer troubleshooter with an understanding of all basic Gallery Store computer systems.

Processes customer transactions cheerfully, efficiently and accurately.

Maintains knowledge of store discounts, sales, inventories and artist biographical information.

Knowledgeable of other museum events and upcoming exhibitions.

Works with Store Asst. Manager of Operations to fill customer special order requests.

Monitor and report on sales figures to assess impact of new sales strategies.

Communicate weekly with Gallery Store Manager on evaluation of consigned artists and other merchandise movement.

Oversees volunteers as directed by the Asst. Manager of Operations and sets the standards for customer service.

Assists training of volunteers on store standards and inventory display in partnership with the Asst. Manager of Operations.

Coaches individual volunteers by consistently providing feedback about job performance and provides opportunities for improvement.

Delegates and supervises volunteers to work according to their level of skill and experience.

Assists and directs volunteers in display of new merchandise.

Enforce procedures for care of inventory and systems for proper storage and replacement of inventory.

Monitor housekeeping of the sales floor.

Notify maintenance regarding repairs or replacement of lighting fixtures.

Understanding of all basic Gallery Store computer systems and ability to troubleshoot computer problems in partnership with the Gallery IT Department.

Process customer transactions, returns and shipping.

Process credit cards over the phone.

Sell gift cards and memberships.

Receive merchandise into system.

Return merchandise to artists through RTA process.

Help with inventory.

Perform daily open & close of registers.

Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor¿s degree in Art, Design, Art History, business or retailing required

or equivalent combination of education and experience required

Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, a discerning eye for merchandise presentation, capable of organizing and motivating people toward achieving goals; efficiency; accuracy; highly organized preferred.

Retail and/or customer service experience preferred.

Team management experience preferred.

Available additional evening and weekday hours as needed.

Strong knowledge of store computer systems and technology, with the ability to effectively troubleshoot issues preferred.
