Our Group studies molecular mechanism of genome integrity, synthetic lethality, chromatin dynamics associated with replication stress, and their role in carcinogenesis and cancer therapy by using cutting-edge methodologies. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about DNA repair and cancer biology fundamentals in a highly supportive environment. Mentorship of the candidate regarding facilitating training and collaborations with labs at the Mayo Clinic and beyond, applying for fellowships, grantsmanship, and promoting your transition to your long-term goals will be a priority! On-site training will also be provided to the successful applicant for unfamiliar techniques. Read literature articles, develop new ideas, and implement them into their projects. Interact regularly with their faculty mentor and laboratory members to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results. Perform experiments as needed for the projects assigned. Complete research projects by developing research tools, exploring and finding mechanisms in the direction of genome maintenance, chromatin plasticity in response to replication stress and DNA damage, synthetic lethality, and their role in cancer development and cancer therapy under the guidance of the faculty mentor. Properly record and interpret the results of their experiments in the laboratory notebook. Prepare publication-quality manuscripts (including figures and tables) Attend and participate in academic activities such as lab meetings, journal clubs, and wider network meetings, including scientific meetings and retreats.
A Research Fellow position in Life Sciences (LS) will require knowledge of either clinical-based research or laboratory-based research often obtained from a postdoctoral program.A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator.
