General DescriptionThis position is responsible for managing the Police Accountability Board's (PAB) investigatory caseload by documenting, processing, and assigning reports to the appropriate divisions. This position is also responsible for coordinating with other City agencies, community groups, legal services organizations, nonprofits, and other institutions to offer support to victims of violence and to ensure equal access to the PAB’s various reporting mechanisms for any individual who seeks to file a report with the PAB.This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title. A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE. Typical Work Activities

Initiates the case creation process;

Acts as the central repository for all reports generated;

Assists in the intake, receipt, processing, evaluation, maintenance, and distribution of reports;

Interprets and applies the relevant rules and regulations to classify and distribute all cases;

Manages investigatory caseload by documenting and processing investigative updates;

Explains intake workflow and process to reporters and prospective reporters;

Communicates with reporters to ensure that they are informed, supported, and aware of case development;

Keeps assigned PAB personnel apprised of case progress and developments;

Prioritizes each report according to potential importance, ensuring that the highest priority receive immediate follow-up;

Reviews reports for accuracy and obtains information necessary to augment incomplete reports;

Coordinates review of reports with the primary investigator and/or appropriate team or division leaders;

Indexes report information for later retrieval and coordination;

Accompanies PAB personnel to public events or while responding to incidents that require on-site intake;

Coordinates with community groups, legal assistance organizations, nonprofits, city agencies, and other institutions to ensure reporters receive the appropriate resources and support;

Assists in any appeals processes that may follow evidentiary hearings;

Keeps abreast of legislation and social trends that apply to relevant policy and procedures;

Occasional participation in PAB community engagement efforts as and when required.

Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.
